Zonta annually awards the Valerie Walter Memorial Scholarship to a non-traditional woman student. The applicant must be 25 years or older as of January 1st of this year, a resident of Beaufort County, and must be currently accepted or enrolled in: a vocational degree, certificate program, associate's degree program, or first bachelor's degree program.

Zonta annually awards Margaret Gould Z-Club Foundation Scholarships to graduating Z-Club members, who demonstrate outstanding commitment to their school and community, and display extraordinary leadership potential. Beginning in 1982, our Club is proud to have awarded over 100 Margaret Gould Scholarships in support of these leaders of our future.

The Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarships are awarded to women of any age, currently undertaking business studies who have demonstrated outstanding potential in the field. Any woman undertaking a business program at an accredited university/college/institute, including online students, in at least the second year of an undergraduate program through the final year of a Master’s program at the time the application is submitted to the local Zonta club, is eligible to apply. The Scholarship may be used at any university, college or institute offering accredited courses and degrees. Applicants for the Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship may not also apply for the Women in STEM Scholarship in the same year.

The Women in STEM Scholarships are awarded to women of any age, currently pursuing a science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) degree program at an accredited university/college/institute, including online students, who demonstrate outstanding potential in the field. Any woman undertaking a STEM degree, in at least the second year of an undergraduate program through the final year of a Master’s program at the time the application is submitted to the local Zonta club, is eligible to apply. Applicants must be in school at the time scholarship funds are disbursed, and must not graduate prior to April of the year following the application year. Golden Z club members are eligible to apply. Applicants for the Women in STEM Scholarship may not also apply for the Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship in the same year.

Martha Baumberger Young Woman in Public Affairs Award

Presented to a young woman who shows leadership potential in the areas of social policy, government and volunteerism. Because Zonta International believes that young women are the key to women’s advancement in the field of public service, it offers the Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Award, which recognizes young women, ages 16-19, for demonstrating leadership skills and commitment to public service and civic causes, and encourages them to continue their participation in public and political life.

Amelia Earhart Fellowship

The Amelia Earhart Fellowship was established in 1938 in honor of famed pilot and Zontian, Amelia Earhart. The Fellowship is awarded annually to up to 30 women of any nationality pursuing Ph.D./doctoral degrees in aerospace engineering and space sciences. It may be used at any university or college offering accredited post-graduate courses and degrees in these fields.

Woman of the Year Award

Zonta annually awards the Woman of the Year Award to a professional woman in Bluffton or Hilton Head who has made extraordinary contributions to the community over the previous three years and has participated in a variety of causes. Woman of the Year is presented at the Hilton Head Island/Bluffton Chamber of Commerce Ball.
